1. Outside my window a lovely little shrub with silvery leaves and clusters of purple flowers is just beginning to bloom. Not only is this plant one of the most beautiful in the garden, it is also one of the most valuable herbs in my medicine chest.

Vitex, also known as Chasteberry or Monk’s Pepper, has an ancient reputation as an an-aphrodisiac for men. The leaves were strewn at the feet of novices as they entered the monastery. However neither modern science nor practical experience supports this particular use of the plant!

VITEX Chasteberry A supreme hormonal tonic for women

I use Vitex as a supreme hormonal tonic for women. Both extensive clinical studies, as well as over two thousand years of use in folk medicine, have proven the effectiveness of this remedy. It works by stimulating and normalizing the pituitary gland, which regulates the balance of estrogen and progesterone in the body.

In a normal menstrual cycle estrogen is higher before ovulation and progesterone is higher after. Many women don’t realize that an imbalance of these hormones can lead to the entire range of symptoms associated with PMS and menopause! Vitex usually has the effect of enhancing progesterone and decreasing estrogen levels.

Vitex itself has none of the hormonal building blocks that many of the medicinal plants used for the reproductive system contain. Instead, this herb nourishes and supports the endocrine system to find its own balance. David Hoffman, a well-known herbalist, says “Vitex will always enable what is appropriate to occur.”

Almost all of symptoms associated with the menstrual cycle can be treated with this plant. It is the single best herb for treating the many possible symptoms of PMS: cramps, flooding, headaches, depression, water retention, constipation, acne, breast tenderness, and irritability. It can help normalize irregular or scanty periods.

It is especially helpful for women who are coming off the birth control pill. For many women, cycles remain irregular for up to two years after stopping the pill. Vitex can greatly shorten that time and helps ease the body into regaining its own natural rhythm.

It is a wonderful tonic to enhance the chances of conception through its ability to regulate ovulation and if taken through the first trimester, vitex will reduce the chances of miscarriage. After the birth, it helps a new mother to produce plenty of milk.

Vitex also offers many benefits to women who are menopausal. It helps to relieve many of the uncomfortable symptoms of this transition time, including hot flashes, irregular cycles, depression, and flooding. Vitex is also an indispensable remedy for women with uterine fibroids, fibrocystic breasts, or endometriosis. All of these conditions proliferate under the influence of estrogen and shrink under the influence of progesterone.

This plant may be taken in tea form, although I prefer the tincture (alcohol extract). The dosage of is usually 30-50 drops, three times per day. Like all herbs, Vitex works best when combined with a lifestyle that includes pure water, whole food, gentle exercise, and plenty of self-love. Although you won’t find it in the wild, Vitex is easy to grow in our bioregion. Just remember to leave it plenty of space, since it can get up to seventeen feet tall!

Vitex is a slow-acting herb. I usually recommend allowing three full cycles for the plant to really work its magic, and many women take it for up to several years. In the thousands of years that it has been in use, there are no reports of even the mildest side effects. Vitex is a safe, gentle, and effective remedy, with something to offer women in every cycle of life.

The Dangers of Processed Foods

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to advise a junk food addict that they need to change their diet to see the effect of all their exercise! Remember you just cannot out exercise a bad diet. I’m hoping the next points will open your eyes and make you ditch  frozen or ready meals, and junk food.

1) Our bodies cannot break it down
Processed junk food is made out of non-foods and chemicals. Our gut is designed to break down and digest foods, not this “food” that’s chock full of anti-caking agents, preservatives, sweeteners, food colourings  stabilizers and other scary things that do not come from nature. To sum it up; popular snacks can stay in your body until the next ice age!! Scary stuff, huh?

2) Partially Hydrogenated Oil
Also known as Trans Fats, which have actually now been banned in a few states in America because of their dire effect on your health. This ingredient is used to increase shelf life and is usually found in all baked goods; Ritz Crackers, Popcorn, Granola Bars (so called healthy!), brand name Peanut Butters, Cereals and Chocolate Bars. This ingredient has a major link to increased risk in heart attacks and high cholesterol.

3) High Fructose Corn Syrup
This nasty ingredient is a very, very cheap sweetener and you are most likely to find it in a lot of obvious brand foods, but some surprising ones as well! Fizzy Drinks, sweets, cakes, ice cream, cereal, but also tomato sauce, yoghurt, salad dressings, baked beans and bread! HFC’s are associated with obesity, heart disease, diabetes and high triglycerides.

4) MSG
Mono Sodium Glutamate is a common food in most popular brands, takeaway food, and even restaurant food. MSG is an additive that increases the flavour of the food its added to and is thought to make these foods addictive.

This nasty ingredient causes a long list of health problems such as heart disease, seizures, fertility issues, diabetes, cancer, brain damage and Alzheimers, to name just a few. You will find MSG is many foods including frozen dinners, ice cream, stock cubes, crisps, condiments, baby food, baby formula, cheese etc, the list goes on and on. Sometimes, the manufacturers will try to hide the fact that they have added this ingredient and will also call it yeast extract, textured protein, protein isolate or calcium caseinate. They can also be found in the vague ingredients “natural flavourings” and “seasonings”.

There are plenty more processed ingredients added to our food that I cannot begin to list in this post. Read your food labels, see something you don’t recognise? Note it down and research it, 9 times out of 10 it will be a processed dangerous additive.

5) Brain Scarring
A recent study in the Journal of Clinical Investigation found that regularly consumed fatty foods can lead to brain scarring and damage to the hypothalamus, the area of the brain responsible for hunger, thirst, and the body’s natural rhythms and cycles. While the initial study was done on rats, scientists feel the findings are insightful in regards to the human brain.

Inflammation, or neuron injury, developed in rats and mice just three days after consuming fatty foods. When rats maintained this diet long term, the neurons were permanently damaged. The brain’s attempt to heal itself while on a long term diet of high fat resulted in scarring to the central nervous system.

Most interesting, however, was the damage done to the brain’s POMC cells, which regular appetite and prevent excess weight gain. The POMC cells were reduced by over 25%, which explains why dieters who merely lower their calories count and up their exercise fail to keep the weight off and regain it back.

So there you have it: if you’re trying to lose weight, you must eat whole foods, not continue eating as you have been only with smaller portions - it only works temporarily.

So my message to you is to stress the importance of eating these whole foods; that is whole grains, vegetables, eggs, fruit, nuts, and organic meat. Not only are these foods essential for weight loss and fitness but also for the internal health of your body.

  8. Every function of the body is monitored and pegged to the efficient flow of water. “Water distribution” is the only way of making sure that not only an adequate amount of water, but its transported elements (hormones, chemical messengers, and nutrients) first reach the more vital organs. In turn, every organ that produces a substance to be made available to the rest of the body will only monitor its own rate and standards of production and release into the “flowing water,” according to constantly changing quotas set by the brain. Once the water itself reaches the “drier” areas, it also exercises its many other vital and missing physical and chemical regulatory actions.

Within this view, water intake and its priority distribution achieve paramount importance. The regulating neurotransmitter systems (histamine and its subordinate agents) become increasingly active during the regulation of water requirements of the body. Their action should not be continuously blocked by the use of medication. Their purpose should be understood and satisfied by drinking more water.

Because of a gradually failing thirst sensation as we age, our bodies become chronically and increasingly dehydrated beginning at early adulthood. Since the water we drink provides for cell function and its volume requirements, the decrease in our daily water intake affects the efficiency of cell activity. It is the reason for the loss of water volume held inside the cells of the body. As a result, chronic dehydration causes symptoms of disease which are then treated with unnecessary medications.

Chronic pains of the body that cannot be easily explained as injury or infection should first and foremost be interpreted as signals of chronic water shortage. These chronic pains include rheumatoid arthritis, angina (heart pain), dyspeptic pain, low back pain, leg pain while walking, migraine headaches, and colitis with its associated constipation. All of these pains should be treated with a regular adjustment to daily water intake. If the problem has persisted for many years, those who wish to test the pain-relieving property of water should be sure that their kidneys can make sufficient urine so that they do not retain too much fluid. With increase in water intake, urination should also increase. This new understanding of the physiology of pain production in dehydration will shed light on the causes of disease in future medical research.

Your body needs an absolute minimum of six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. Coffee, tea, colas, other caffeine beverages, and alcohol don’t count as water. (In fact, they will actually dehydrate the body even more.) And don’t wait until you’re thirsty. The best times to drink water (clinically observed in peptic ulcer disease) are: one glass a half hour before each meal—and one glass two hours after each meal. If you drink water according to this program, you would not feel thirsty in the middle of a meal. However, if you feel thirsty even in the middle of a meal, it would be advisable to satisfy your thirst sensation at that time even though this recommendation is against the conventional wisdom.

For the sake of not shortchanging our bodies, we should also drink two glasses of water first thing in the morning and one glasse before going to bed. People living in hot climates and physically active individuals should even further increase their water intake. The thirst mechanism becomes more efficient when we increase our water consumption. Therefore, your body might then ask you to drink more than the above minimum. Beware that you also need to add some salt to your diet. You need to take a quarter teaspoon of salt for every quart of water to prevent “salt shortage in your blood,” which could cause brain damage and even death in people with extreme salt shortage in their bodies.

Water is the cheapest form of medicine to a dehydrated body. As simply as dehydration produces the major diseases we are now confronting, a well-regulated and alert attention to daily water intake can help prevent most of the major diseases we have in our modern society. You need to further educate yourself about the importance of water and the appropriate minerals to optimum health and well-being. Read my books Your Body’s Many Cries for Water and Water Cures: Drugs Kill – How Water Cured Incurable Disease to become your own healer and could then help others understand how chronic unintentional dehydration is the primary cause of pain and disease in the human body, including cancer.

If this information helps you, please write me a note about your particular condition and how increased water intake has helped you. I hope to document as much information on chronic dehydration as possible. It is a very young science which needs the input of all who test the information. Your participation will save others from unnecessary suffering both now and in the future.

Several small studies showed that neem oil appears to be a safe and very effective contraceptive, pre and post coital (before and after sex).

The way it was applied in the studies it was 100% effective in preventing pregnancies. During in vitro experiments (meaning, in a dish in the lab, not in real life) neem oil also totally immobilized sperm cells within 20 to 30 seconds of being in contact with neem oil.

    Impressive, huh? But nothing new…

"In the first century B.C., Charaka, the Indian physician, gave a detailed method for using neem for contraception. Cotton soaked in neem oil was kept in the vagina for fifteen minutes before intercourse. This killed the sperm."
    (neemfoundation.org)

Newer studies showed that neem oil contraceptive indeed kills sperm in the vagina within 30 seconds and remains active for five hours. It causes no irritation or discomfort like the chemical based spermicidal foams do. (Apart from the awful smell.)

In addition neem oil acts as a lubricant, and it may also offer some protection from vaginal and sexually transmitted diseases.

"Vaginal creams and suppositories made with neem oil are quickly becoming the birth control method of choice in India". A headline from 1993…

But as we know now, this didn’t spread around the world as predicted.

There were other studies as well:

    • Using rats it was shown that a single injection of a small amount of neem oil in the uterine horns (the uterus, not just the vagina) resulted in long term (up to 12 months) and reversible infertility. There were no adverse reactions, and all subsequent litters were perfectly normal in every respect.
    • Neem oil also prevented fertilized eggs from implanting in the uterus wall, if given to rats on day 2 to 7 of an expected pregnancy.
    • Another study on rats showed that taking neem oil orally, eight to ten days after implantation of the fetus, terminates the pregnancy. The animals regained completely normal fertility in the next cycle.

    Strong stuff!

Researchers also showed that the effect of neem oil on the immune system is responsible for those results. The body’s immune system gets stimulated to a degree where it kills the sperm and rejects (or rather resorbs) the embryo.

(This explanation is somewhat simplified for easier understanding. See the individual neem studies below if you want to know which aspects of the immune system exactly are involved and how.)

All scientifically documented studies into the effect of neem oil on male fertility were done on animals. (The same is true for neem oil birth control studies on females.)

Those research studies, however, show that neem oil does indeed decrease sperm count and mobility, without affecting sperm production or libido. (Neem leaf extracts were shown to reduce fertility as well.) But we know nowhere near enough about those and other possible effects of neem oil when taken internally.

The great majority of all studies of neem birth control was done on rats, some studies used guinea pigs, rabbits or monkeys.

Obviously you can not, under no circumstances, take results from animal studies and apply them to people!

And before you go and start self medication with neem oil or extracts regardless, note that in one of those studies most of the guniea pigs and rabbits died!

All the information on this page is for information only. To satisfy your curiosity. No more. Men or women, as interesting as all these studies are to read, do not attempt to self experiment with neem oil or extracts internally!

The 3 Requirements of Being Healthy

    -Drink LOTS of water!
(pretty much any common ailment is because you simply need more water! 64 ounces a day!!!)

-Break a Sweat! 30 mins at least 3 times a week
     take a walk everyday
(I find hatha yoga to be a nice way to exercise without having to over-exert myself)

-Cut out refined sugar and high fructose corn syrup
     AND PROCESSED FOODS
(fruits are a good snack to substitute for sweets and other processed foods).

    THAT’S IT!!!

if you do these things, you are probably eating healthy and making other health-conscious decisions!

    Tinea Versicolor

    I have found the cure!!!

Typical creams for Tinea Versicolor have sulfates in them, something I am allergic to.
I tried tea tree oil which did not help, along with acidophillus.
A sugar and wheat free diet with yogurt helped but was almost impossible.

Then a friend let me try his African Black Soap.

It is water, palm oil, and kern oil.
It is an anti-fungal. I put it on a few times throughout the day and my Tinea Versicolor in disappeared under a week. It went away completely and has not come back. It has been 2 months! I highly recommend it!
I still have white spots but they should disappear over time.

  14. Building Blood

I have discovered recently, that the main contributing factor to my inability to get my period was that I didn’t have enough blood. I want to stress this factor to you, in case you may be in the same boat.

Since this discovery, I have been eating a serving of spinach or kale everyday. And red meat a few times a month. My symptoms have improved dramatically.

If you are vegetarian, I strongly recommend eating lots of spinach, kale, seaweed, and other collard greens.
Also, don’t forget to be getting plenty of protein. Nuts are always good but beans and rice together make a complete protein! Beans are also high in iron! Make sure to eat these things everyday!

  15. SO I STARTED TAKING MACA ABOUT A MONTH AGO, AND IT CURED ME!!!

I HAD NOT GOTTEN MY PERIOD FOR LIKE THREE MONTHS AFTER I STOPPED RUNNING AND STARTED SMOKING CIGARETTES AGAIN. MIND, I HAVE STILL BEEN STICKING TO THE SAME DIET AND HAVE BEEN ADDING SPINACH EVERYDAY AND RED MEAT AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK FOR INCREASED BLOOD FLOW. I HAVE BEEN TAKING MACA 1-2 TIMES A DAY FOR THE LAST MONTH AND I AM REGULAR!!!!!!!!! :D I REALLY RECOMMEND IT!!!! GET OFF THAT ICKY BIRTH CONTROL. I POSTED A FEW MONTHS AGO SO YOU CAN READ WHY THAT SHIT IS SO BAD FOR YOU BUT I’M TELLING YOU THIS WORKS FOR ME! I HAD A THYROID CONDITION SO IF YOU HAVE THYROID PROBLEMS, WHEN YOU TAKE MACA, I RECOMMEND GETTING A BAD OF DULCE FLAKES, OR OTHER KIND OF SEAWEED. MAKE SURE IT HAS LOTS OF IODINE! THIS WILL KEEP YOU FROM GETTING GOUT.

I JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY SUCCESS STORY WITH YOU GUYS!!

    my daily regimine:
-wake up and do yoga/meditate (great way to start metabolism and relieve stress levels for the day! as we know stress can cause excess estrogen)
-drink a glass of water and take maca, and a kelp iodine supplement
-eat a banana, orange juice (both estrogen inhibiting and good for brain), and oatmeal or raisin bran (lots of fiber) with coconut milk (hormone regulating)
-beans and rice are a good dinner (see below for bangin recipe)
-snacks that should be included everyday are:
    —avocado (hormone regulating)
    —spinach (increase blood)
    —walnuts (good for creating progesterone)
—and like i said red meat twice a week to increase blood. for vegetarians you can probably get enough iron from spinach, kale, and other green leafy vegetables, and beans
—and I personally include a cup of yogurt a day to take care of my tinea versicolor. If you have this I strongly recommend African Black Soap
